Combined Defense Services Examination (CDS II- 2008) CDS- 2008) (UPSC)
UPSC will hold the Combined Defense Services Examination (II), 2008 on 14th September, 2008 for admission to Indian Military Academy, Naval Academy and Air Force Academy for the Courses commencing in July, 2009 and Officers Training Academy, Chennai for the Courses (Men and Women) commencing in October, 2009.
1.Indian Military Academy Dehradun: 127th Course Commencing in July, 2009 [includes 32 vacancies reserved for NCC ‘C’ Certificate (Army Wing) holders].

2.Naval Academy Goa: Course commencing in July, 2009 Executive (General service/Hydro) [including ten reserved for NCC ‘C’ Certificate holders (Naval Wing)].

3.Air Force Academy, Hyderabad (Pre-Flying) : Training Course commencing in July, 2009 i.e. No.186th F(P) Course.

4.Officers’ Training Academy, Chennai : 90th SSC Course (for men) commencing in October, 2009.

5.Officers’ Training Academy, Chennai (Madras) : 4th SSC Women Non-Technical Course commencing in October, 2009.

Date / Day of Commencement of Examination: 14th September 2008 (Sunday)
Last Date for Receipt of Applications: 19th May, 2008.
Eligibility:
A) Age Limits Sex and Marital Status:
(i) For IMA-Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd July, 1985 and not later than 1st July, 1990 only are eligible.
(ii) For Naval Academy: Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd July, 1987 (2nd July, 1985 in case of NCC/Naval Wing ‘C’ Certificate holders) and not later than 1st July, 1990 only are eligible.
(iii) For Air Force Academy-Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd July, 1986 and not later than 1st July, 1990 only are eligible.
(iv) For Officers Training Academy-(SSC Course for Men): Male candidates (married or unmarried born not earlier than 2nd July, 1984 and not later than 1st July, 1990 only are eligible.
(v) For Officers’ Training Academy - (SSC Women Non-Technical Course): Unmarried women, issueless widows who have not remarried, and issueless divorcees (in possession of divorce documents) who have not remarried are eligible. They should have been born not earlier than 2nd July, 1984 and not later than 1st July, 1990.
(B) Educational Qualifications:
(i) For I.M.A. and Officers’ Training Academy-Degree of a recognised University or equivalent.
(ii) For Naval Academy: B.Sc. (with Physics & Mathematics) or Bachelor of Engineering.
(iii) For Air Force Academy: Degree of Recognized University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering.
Candidates who are studying in the final year Degree course can also apply for the Examination, but they will be required to submit proof of passing the degree examination or equivalent by the specified dates published in Commission’s Notice for the Examination.
(C) Physical Standards: Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to CDSE(II), 2008.
How To Apply:
Candidates must apply in the Common Application Form devised by the Commission for its examination, which can be purchased from the designated Head Post Offices/Post Offices throughout the country against cash payment of Rs.20/- (Rupees twenty only). Each such Form can be used only once and only for one examination.
In case of any difficulty in obtaining Application Forms from the designated HPOs/ POs, te candidates should immediately contact the concerned Post Master or UPSC’s “Forms Supply Monitoring Cell” over Telephone No.011-23389366/ Fax: No.011-23387310.
Fee: Rs. 100/- (Rupees one hundred only) through Central Recruitment Fee Stamp only. SC/ST candidates are exempted from payment of Fees. (OBC candidates are required to pay full fees).
Important Dates:
Last Date For Receipt of Applications: All applications must reach the “Secretary Union Public Service Commission, Dholpur House, Shajahan Road, New Delhi-110069″ either by hand or by Post/Speed Post or by Courier, on or before the 19th May, 2008.
However, in respect candidates residing abroad or in certain remote areas the last date for receipt of applications by Post/Speed Post only (not by Hand or by Courer) is 26th May, 2008.
